Volunteer Frequently Asked Questions
-
Who can volunteer?
Individuals must be 14 years of age or older to volunteer. Check the committee descriptions for specific age restrictions. We encourage students, community groups and individuals to become part of the CPKC Women’s Open!
-
I am a returning volunteer, do I still need to register?
Thanks for volunteering again! We do need all new and returning volunteers to register as a volunteer year over year to ensure Golf Canada has the most up-to-date information.
-
When do I pay for my volunteer package?
Payment will be required at the end of the volunteer registration in order to complete the process. If payment isn’t made initially, Golf Canada will send bi-weekly reminders to complete registration through email.
-
How much is the fee to volunteer?
The early bird price offered until March 2nd, 2026 is $65. After that date, the full price is $80.
-
Why is there a fee to volunteer?
The CPKC Women’s Open provides several unique aspects to our valued volunteers including memorabilia and items that aren’t offered publicly. Your registration payment helps offset the cost of this volunteer package, valued at $500.

Do I have to work every day?
Volunteers are not required to work all days of the tournament. We require a minimum commitment 4 shifts (one per day). Note that length of hours for shifts can vary by committee based on different responsibilities.
-
How do I know when I’m working?
The Chair for each Committee is responsible for providing a schedule for their respective volunteers. This schedule will be available approximately 3-weeks prior to the tournament and can be found online when logging in to your account.
-
What if my availability changes?
If your availability changes, you can log in and update it at any time prior to your initial schedule assignment. Once your Committee Chair creates your schedule, this function will be locked. If you require changes after the schedule is finalized, please contact your Committee Chair through your volunteer account.
-
How do I find out my Committee assignment?
The first wave of committee assignments will be done in April. Committee assignments can also be found by logging into your volunteer account, under “My Committee Assignments.”
-
Why do some committees require a security code to select?
Some committees have a security code to select on registration because they are closed committees that are not available to the general public. They may require additional knowledge and skills to volunteer on. If you are interested in volunteering on a committee that requires a security code, please email cpkcwovolunteers@golfcanada.ca and outline any experience you may have applicable to the committee. Golf Canada will evaluate your application and fit for the committee role.
-
Why is the committee I want to choose as my 1st preference not on registration?
If a committee has been chosen as a preference over capacity, it is removed to select from registration. For example, each year Walking Scorers tends to be the first one to get chosen over capacity.
-
What is volunteer orientation?
Volunteer orientation provides pertinent information to all volunteers including, a detailed description of your duties, an explanation of championship week operations and Committee updates directly from your respective Committee Chair.
Volunteer orientation will be held virtually on Tuesday, August 4th, 2026. Information such as the timing and online registration process will be available on the volunteer homepage, and will be sent to you directly via email at a later date.
-
When do I receive my volunteer uniform, badge and guest pass?
You will receive your uniform, badge and guest pass on the volunteer uniform pick-up day. Details will be available at a later date.
-
What if I am unable to attend Uniform Pick-Up?
We offer an alternate pick-up date if a volunteer cannot attend their uniform pick-up day but still wishes to volunteer. Further information on the alternate pick-up date will be available on the volunteer website closer to the date.
-
Will I be guaranteed the position I select as my first choice?
Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee your 1st committee preference. Volunteers are placed into Committees on an as needed basis and must meet all the requirements of the committee.
-
What happens if the Committee I selected as my first choice is full?
You will be moved to the next available position on another Committee. Tournament staff aim to place volunteers in one of the top three choices as indicated on your application form.
-
What if I can no longer volunteer?
If you can no longer volunteer, please notify tournament staff (cpkcwomensopen@golfcanada.ca) and your committee chair. A full refund will be issued to the original form of payment card that was provided as long as tournament staff have been notified before the refund deadline: Friday, July 24th, 2026. Refunds will not be issued after this date.
Note: Volunteers who pick up their volunteer package but do not complete their shifts will be charged the full value of the volunteer package, equaling no less than $500.
-
What type of bottoms and shoes am I allowed to wear when volunteering?
All volunteers are asked to provide their own plain black, shorts or pants, or skorts. All shorts or skorts must fall no more than four inches above the knee. Denim, cargo pants/shorts are not acceptable.
Closed toed shoes are required. Golf shoes are permitted. It is recommended that you wear shoes that you are comfortable walking and standing in for long periods of time.
-
